Fashion is a broad category of human activity and self expression in a certain time and place and in a certain context, of style, footwear, clothing, life, makeup, hairstyles, and body posture, defining a unique look. The word “fashion” itself indicates a look distinguished by the fashion business as what is trendy. The popularity and the mass production of fashion articles have created mass fashion, a tendency towards mass production of popular items. However, in some cases, local fashion has reemerged, for example when teenagers in an urban environment identify with hip hop styles associated with street life.
In order to be able to wear fashion, one must know something about the many different categories of fashion. Clothing designers usually divide fashion into three main categories: functional or costume, semi-permanent, or costume; and one of these, which should be the first preference, is very much related to clothing for daily use. Costume fashion, on the other hand, is more subjective, and fashion designers often take great pains not to copy what has already been worn. Costume designers are often confronted with the challenge of explaining to the public why certain clothes look funny on some people, but not on others.
One of the most prestigious and famous fashion shows in the world is the New York Fashion Week. It is held each year, and this years event was full of big names in the fashion business attending, from the best known fashion designers, to local up and coming talents. The NYFF is widely considered to be the ultimate dress down fashion show, where designers go wild showing the world what is new and hot in the fashion this year. Fashion designers from all over attend the annual fashion week in New York, from France and Italy to Berlin and Tokyo.
