Trends From the NY Times’ Men’s Fashion Guide
Men’s fashion is an ever changing industry with new fads and innovations being introduced on a daily basis. In today’s world, men’s clothing has become a billion-dollar business. With each new designer out there, it is not uncommon to see a new “designer out of nowhere” come out with a new line of clothes. The fashion world is also buzzing with the introduction of new labels such as House of Dereon, DKNY, and Louis Vuitton. These designer names have created iconic and timeless fashion trends, and men around the world sport these clothing brands.
Today’s fashion trends are influenced by the seasons, holidays, the lives of celebrities, and more. With the Paris Fashion Week, it is common to see men’s fashion lines going out of their way to create unique, limited edition collections. For example, for this year’s fall collection, House of Dereon created two iconic pieces, the trench coat and leggings, inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier and Yves Saint Laurent, and inspired by the classic elegance of Versailles. Another very popular trend this season is inspired by the lives of rap stars, specifically rappers, from the New York hip-hop scene.
Celebrities are constantly wearing lemure (leather) pants and jackets to stay in style. This trend originated from rap artists like Kanye West, Jay Z, and Jay Antibears. This trend can be seen throughout all different regions of the world, excepting those in France and Japan. Men’s fashion trends are constantly evolving, whether they are inspired by current events, current music, or classic elegance.
